Ideal
for high head duties, ACP two stage pumps incorporate two single
suction impellers placed back-to-back to eliminate axial thrust
load. More favorable specific speed ensures higher efficiency and
more stable head-capacity characteristics when compared to single
stage pump for the same duty. Some of the very high head designs
incorporate external cross-over from first to second stage to
minimize flow losses. Special two stage pumps are offered to solve
specific installation problems – this includes use of two double
suction impellers to reduce NPSHR and achieve greater balance of
axial thrust.
